Francis Mureithi will be the new Digital Editor at the Radio Africa Group following the departure of Oliver Mathenge.
An internal memo signed by the Group Head of Content, Paul Ilado, indicated that Mureithi would oversee growth plans across all Radio Africa digital assets.
The company noted that Mureithi was a seasoned journalist with over 15 years of experience in the media ecosystem.
"He has great experience, judgment and understating of Radio Africa’s place in Kenya’s public life and will be a superb Digital Editor."
"He will look to create new products, especially audio-visual content, in order to double our digital revenue in the next one year as we move towards a paywall," reads the statement in part.
For the past five years, Mureithi worked as the News Editor.
The journalist has a Bachelor's degree in Languages and Literary Studies (Media and Communication option) from Moi University as well as a a master’s degree in International Conflict Management.
Radio Africa also announced Jillo Kadido as the news editor, replacing Mureithi. Kadido becomes the first woman in the history of Radio Africa Group to occupy the converged News Editor’s position.
Kadido will help with the evolution of Radio Africa’s converged newsroom, growing the editorial team, and implementing of a comprehensive news gathering strategy.
In conclusion, the company expressed gratitude to Mathenge who helped the company grow in the past five years.
Mathenge will be joining Nation Media Group in a senior managerial position.
