The Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning has provided guidelines on how Kenyans can prevent theft of land on the recently launched Ardhisasa platform.
Lands Cabinet Secretary, Farida Karoney, shared a list of five pointers on how Kenyans can ensure that Kenyans do not lose their property on the platform.
Despite the Ministry moving from the analogue system of keeping physical land records to the much safer digital platform, it is still alive to the fact that Kenyans can still fall victim to land theft on the platform.
Whereas the platform's security has been praised, the Ministry has identified loop holes on the user end that could be used to carry out digital property theft.
In this regard, CS Karoney, who is keen on implementing the land reforms, has advised Kenyans on how to secure their property on the platform.
When using the platform, Kenyans are required to create accounts with their email addresses, after which they create passwords.
The CS advised Kenyans to keep their passwords a secret and not share it with anyone.
In addition, she cautioned them against storing their passwords on the same device that they use to receive the system generated messages.
These includes the One Time Passwords/ Pins (OTP) or the One-Time Authorization Code (OTAC), which are temporary codes provided by the system to allow the user access or create a new password.
Users have also been advised to always log off from the system interface once they are done with your transactions
Karoney also stated that should they detect any suspicious activity, they should immediately report to the customer support team. She added that should a user need assistance then they an access the customer care platform on the Ministry of Lands.
