A woman got a taste of her own medicine after she mistakenly took a drink she had spiked for three men on holiday in Mombasa.

A statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Sunday, October 10, indicated the woman was part of a 3-lady gang that was working in cahoots to spike the drinks.

The woman was found unconscious alongside three other men at Shikara apartments in Nyali, Mombasa county, where they had booked themselves for holiday.

The statement identified the three individuals as senior county officials at the physical planning department in Kisumu.

The three, who were in the company of a Member of the Kisumu County Assembly (MCA) were enjoying a drink at a popular Mombasa beach restaurant when they invited the three ladies to join them.

"As the soothing ocean breeze swept across the bar that overlooks the Indian Ocean, the county officials bought as many rounds of booze... and made merry up to the devil's hour.

"When they hit fever pitch minutes to 3am, the ladies whispered to the county officials that it was about time they moved to their rooms," read the statement in part.

The lady and three men were found unconscious by colleagues of the officials who were looking for the senior officials on the morning of Saturday, October 9.

Her two other accomplices took flight when they realized that their partner in crime had passed out. They left with the county officials’ laptops, mobile phones, and other undisclosed valuables.

The four were rushed to Coast General Hospital for treatment.

Detectives based at Nyali police station are interrogating the suspect on the whereabouts of her accomplices, in a bid to recover the valuables stolen from the county officials.

This comes just two months after Police in Kirinyaga detained a man believed to be stupefying women's drinks before stealing from them.

The man was nabbed after a businesswoman, who had reportedly blacked out from one of his drinks, made a report to the police.
