New details have emerged about a UK Member of Parliament who forked out top dollar to live in a luxurious Ksh152 million mansion in London linked to the Kenyatta family.

According to the Pandora Papers that exposed shadowy Panama companies which were leaked at the beginning of October 2021, the mansion is owned by a company identified as Milrun International Limited.

A report by BBC around the same time revealed that Mama Ngina Kenyatta and her two daughters, Kristina and Anna, set up the company in 1999.

The publication, further indicated that the first family was guided through the process by wealth experts from the Swiss bank's Union Bancaire Privée (UBP).

The mansion, which was occupied by UK MP Emma Hardy as recently as August 2021, has landed the Labour lawmaker in trouble after it emerged that she used state money to fund her stay there.

The exposé further showed that she rented the apartment when away from her constituency on parliamentary business and paid a sum of Ksh395,000 (£2,600) per month as rent.

In her defence, Hardy explained that she was not aware of the shadowy management of the apartment prior to signing a lease.

“Emma had absolutely no knowledge of this. She signed a standard tenancy agreement through a reliable agency approved by the independent organisation that administers MPs’ accommodation costs.

"She is shocked at what this investigation has uncovered, and believes it shows why more transparency is urgently needed," stated a representative on her behalf.

Hardy was elected as Labour MP representing Kingston upon Hull West and Hessle area in 2017 before subsequent re-election in 2019.

Besides her legislation roles, she served as the Shadow Minister for Further Education and Universities between 2020 and 2021.

Born in 1979, the lawmaker attended the University of Liverpool and the University of Leeds before beginning her career as a teacher which lasted for 10 years.

Besides her professional duties, Hardy is engaged with the Women's Health Charity Endometriosis UK, where she champions menstrual wellbeing.

Uhuru is yet to offer a lengthy explanation regarding his family's ownership of offshore accounts but has previously denied any wrongdoing.
