List of Top Companies Awarded by Uhuru for Fully Paying Taxes

President Uhuru Kenyatta awarded different companies from across the country for dully paying their taxes without coercion during an event held at a city hotel on Friday, October 29, as the country celebrated the 2021 Annual Taxpayers’ Day.

The event, that was organised by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), saw Uhuru award companies and government agencies that had demonstrated exceptional performance in their tax obligations.

The winners were presented with Presidential Distinguished Taxpayers Awards for the Financial Year 2020/2021.

Safaricom stood out after being conferred with the award by the Head of State for being the leading taxpayer in the country.

Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) was also among the winners. It bagged the award for the government agency that has consistently collaborated with KRA in facilitating key tax administration, tax compliance, and enforcement initiatives across the border points within the financial year. 

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) was also conferred with an award for demonstrating the highest levels of tax compliance through consistent filing and timely payments and paying the highest amount of taxes relative to other government agencies.

Standard Chartered Investment Services Limited walked home with the award for paying the highest corporation tax compared to their turnover.

The Kenya Trade Network Agency was conferred with the award for linking the Government and Private Sector to access customs systems thereby increasing ease of doing business.

UDV Limited was awarded for demonstrating the highest levels of compliance with customs laws, adhering to timely filing and payment of taxes, and handling the highest volumes of imports. 



Here are the Other Winners

Evergreen Logistics Corporation was feted for supporting the initiative of Deconsolidation and clearance of goods at the National Deconsolidation Centre as the top importer.

Top exporter award was given to taxpayers who demonstrated high level of custom law and has handled large volumes of exports. The winner in that category was James Finlay Mombasa Limited.

Top Taxpayer Region Category

This recognised top taxpayers in seven tax administrative regions in Kenya.

The top taxpayer award Southern Region was awarded to Diani Estate Limited. Consolata Hospital Nyeri scooped the award for the Central Region.

Diocese of Marsabit Registered Trustees won the award for the Northern Region. Busia Industry Limited bagged the award for the Western Region.

In the South Rift Region, De Ruiter East Africa Ltd went home with the award while Noble Sacco Society Ltd won for the North Rift Region.
