A Kenyan integrated marketing communications firm has been feted at a global award.

The announcement was made on Thursday, November 29, in a ceremony conducted in the United States of America (USA).

Oxygène MLC was declared the 2021 winners of the coveted Global SABRE Award winners in the Public Relations category defeating several international multi-billion companies it was competing against.

The company submitted the Kazi Mtaani project that it rolled out for the Government of Kenya on behalf of the State Department for Housing and Urban Development.

The Kazi Mtaani project was competing with notable projects like the Road Trip funded by the European Commission and two projects dubbed Igniting Hope and Solutions for a year of crisis funded by the European Investment Bank.

The SABRE Awards recognize campaigns that demonstrate the highest levels of strategic planning, creativity, and business results. The selection is done by its range of international professional panelists picked from different giant global companies.

This year's SABRE Awards attracted more than 5,500 entries from over 60 global countries. The winners of the Global awards were elite, representing best practices in categories ranging from social media to social responsibility, from public affairs to employee communications.

The State Department of Housing and Urban Development Principal Secretary, Charles Hinga, lauded the firm stating that the award is a timely tribute since the Government is making preparations to roll out the third phase Kazi Mtaani Phase.

“We celebrate the excellent news on the Kazi Mtaani 2021 SABRE Global award win, and congratulate Oxygène MCL for a job well done. This is a deserved tribute to all the stakeholders who dedicated their time and efforts to ensure the smooth rollout and public communication of the Kazi Mtaani National Hygiene Program,” Hinga said.

The firm has recently won several local and international awards including the 2021 SABRE EMEA Award in the Government Agencies category held in London.

In other awards, several Kenyan companies were also feted in the African category of the 2021 International Business Magazine awards under different entries.

The Nairobi-based African Elite Group emerged as the leading PR agency in Africa with the Ilani Concepts Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Stephen Kabungo, bagging the Entrepreneur of the Year Award with his company taking home the Best 2021 IT Company.
