A 65-year old man passed on on Friday, October 29, while trying to rescue his father from a swarm of bees at their Kisumu home.

His father, who is 85 years of age, was the first to be attacked by the bees.

According to the neighbour's account, the bees attacked after they were disturbed by a lorry that was fetching sand in the vicinity.

The neighbours detailed that when the man came out of the house and noticed that his father was under attack, he picked up a blanket and went to his rescue.

Unfortunately, while trying to rescue his father, the bees turned on him, stinging him all over.

In what can only be referred to as a heroic act, the man covered his father fully and left himself exposed, resulting to the fatal attack.

When his neighbours noticed that he was under a vicious attack from the bees, they rushed to his rescue but it was a little too late as he died on the spot.

Kajulu West Location Chief, Tobias Omollo, noted that the 85-year-old man survived the attack but is in a critical condition.

He was rushed to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital where he is undergoing treatment while his son's body was taken to the morgue of the same hospital.

The family can now only hope that the elderly man survives the attack.

In a similar instance, a few months ago, Baringo Governor Stanley Kiptis was forced to run for his dear life after a swarm of bees attacked a motorspot event he had attended.
