Narc Kenya Party leader, Martha Karua, has been endorsed for the Deputy President position ahead of the 2022 General Election.

Her endorsement was made public by Gatundu South Member of Parliament, Moses Kuria, who stated that Karua has what it takes to take up the position. Kuria was speaking during his first public appearance after suffering severe leg burn injuries.

The Chama Cha Kazi party leader, while drumming up support for Karua, argued that she is best suited to lead Mt Kenya region and champion the region's interests in any political outfit that seeks to gain votes from the region.

“I want to endorse Martha Karua for the position of the Deputy President. She has the integrity, she has the stamina, she has a sterling record as a crusader for both multipartism and human rights,” he stated.

Kuria insisted that the endorsement is for the good of the Mt Kenya region which is currently grappling with finding a kingpin as President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to exit the stage.

The endorsement comes as Karua already detailed her 2022 game plan in which she is set to battle it out with other aspirants for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat.

Addressing the press on Saturday, October 24, Karua dispelled reports that she had been approached for the Deputy President post.

Justifying her move to focus on clinching the Kirinyaga top seat, she explained that she would be on the losing end if she waited to be offered the position.

"I have said that I am only vying here for the gubernatorial seat, then you should believe me and stop asking around," Karua stated.

"I can tell you standing here, no one has requested me to be their deputy."

She stated that most presidential candidates will settle on their running mates in May 2022.

"You can vie for a Deputy President's seat, you'll have to float in the air until May next year awaiting a candidate to have mercy on you," the NARC party leader stated.

Kuria, during the same session, hit out at Jubilee Party over the planned clean-up of their house.

Kuria, who was accompanied by Murang’a Senator Irungu Kangata, said the Jubilee Party's move to clean house was of little consequence as many had long since moved to other parties.

“Those of us who are in Jubilee, we support Jubilee nominally, we will not support the resolution to support Raila Odinga. Our candidate, as UDA supporters, is Deputy President William Ruto," Kang'ata stated.
