A man in Murang'a is still in shock after losing two members of his family in a double tragedy on Wednesday, November 4.

This is after his wife and their unborn baby were cut short after they were involved in a road accident at about 7.30 pm along the Kenol-Murang'a road. She was on her way to Maragua Level Four Hospital to deliver her child.

According to Murang'a South Sub-County police boss, Alexander Shikondi, the motorcycle she had boarded was crashed by two vehicles.

"The incident involved two cars and a motorcycle near Virgin Hospital," he stated.

The woman was then rushed to the nearby Virgin Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Medics at the hospital stated that the woman had also lost her unborn child.

As required, the hospital reached out to the deceased's family. Her husband and mother rushed to the hospital, where they were informed on their kin's demise.

The victim's mother revealed that her expectant daughter had called to notify her that she had gone into labour.

"I told her to go to hospital and that I would check on her in the morning, only to receive a call later about the accident," she stated.

The deceased's husband, still shaken, helped his mother-in-law who later passed out.

Shikondi stated that six other people involved in the accident survived. Two of them who sustained serious injuries were hospitalised while four others got minor injuries.

The police have launched investigations to establish the cause of the accident.
