Police have finally released the details of the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) from the late Agnes Tirop's home, that reveals what really transpired on that fateful day the athlete was found murdered.

The late Tirop was found dead on Wednesday, October 13, inside her bedroom with post-mortem results indicating that she suffered concussions and cuts to her head.

However, according to CCTV footage, the athlete was murdered on Tuesday, October 12, a day before the news about her death was made public.

Keiyo North sub-county Deputy Chief Information Officer (DCIO), Andolo Munga, confirmed the details extracted from the CCTV footage, affirming that her husband, Ibrahim Rotich, was placed at the scene of the murder by the video recording.

“The CCTV footage is self-explanatory and positive after forensic analysis. It has all the evidence of the scene and the actual act. We believe we have an airtight case and we are good to go with the prosecution,” stated the detective.

The detective working on the case added, "the CCTV footage has become very crucial in this matter and it has shown us exactly what happened and how it was conducted. The investigation is on reverse and forward aspects.”

The detectives are also now examining the confession note reportedly left behind by Rotich, before he fled following the athlete's death.

“The confession note is also being subjected to forensic analysis. The public will know in due course because all the evidence will be adduced in court,” he stated.

Two suspects who were arrested alongside Rotich have been released and turned into state witnesses.

“We have released the two other suspects whom we had arrested with Rotich and they are now state witnesses. They are valuable to the case when they are witnesses unlike if they are charged,” he added.

Further, the murder weapons are still being examined before they can be produced in court.

“The murder weapons are blood stained and they are being subjected to more analysis. We need a water tight case that is why nothing is being left to chance,” the detectives remarked.

From the CCTV footage, the DCIO noted that it is clear Rotich had an intention of murdering Tirop.

The case is set to be mentioned as the investigative side seeks to have the details of the CCTV footage admissible in court, adding to the list of evidence lined up against Rotich.

The case attracted a lot of attention with President Uhuru Kenyatta directing the investigative bodies together with the police to act with speed to serve her family justice.
