Kakamega Senator, Cleophas Malala, has accused his Baringo counterpart, Gideon Moi, of being the weakest link in the One Kenya Alliance (OKA).

During an interview on a local TV station on Monday, November 16, Malala claimed that the close relationship between Raila Odinga and the Senator was affecting Moi's commitment to the coalition.

Malala’s sentiments come after Moi insinuated that OKA was working on a coalition arrangement that would bring on board the ODM party leader and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"We are disappointed as One Kenya Alliance foot soldiers when we see some of our principals having weak body language politically. Recently you heard senator Moi stating that we are working with Raila Odinga," Malala stated.

The Kakamega Senator, who is eying the gubernatorial seat, went ahead to recommend that the Baringo Senator should withdraw KANU from an alliance agreement that they had signed with the Jubilee Party. He explained that the ruling party was already working on a coalition with ODM.

"We made the brave step of moving out of NASA to come and form OKA. We want to challenge our brother in KANU to move out of the alliance with Jubilee and come and concentrate in OKA. You cannot exist in two coalitions at the same time.”

"OKA is a viable idea when we are together. The moment we start contemplating and thinking that we are going to be a branch of ODM then we weaken the entire plan and strategy," the Senator challenged.

Additionally, Malala insisted that Amani National Congress (ANC) would not support any coalition pact with Raila explaining that ODM was too dominating in their previous alliances.

"We cannot again pull out of NASA because of the reasons that are well known, then, later on, we are taken back to Raila. We have stated as ANC that we are not going back. Raila is not part of our options," the Senator explained.

On his part, ANC party leader, Musalia Mudavadi, distanced himself from Malala's sentiments stating that they were personal further assuring that OKA would continue with their coalition arrangement.

“Personally, I have not spoken to it. I know some of the members of OKA have made personal statements to that effect. As an individual, I have not spoken.”

Mudavadi added that OKA had plans to announce their presidential candidate next year. However, he stated that the process would take more time than they anticipated

"It is not an easy process and I have maintained that we are not out of time because even to submit the coalition documents we still have up to next year," Mudavadi stated.
