Deputy President William Ruto and his wife, Mama Rachel Ruto, were the main guests at the wedding of billionaire David Langat’s daughter in Karen, Nairobi on Friday, November 19.
Reports detailed that the bride, Natalie Langat, was married off to a gentleman hailing from the Kisii, Nyanza region. The groom was identified as a Mr Davies Onyancha.
Mama Rachel Ruto was spotted arriving with Natalie, followed by a group of bridesmaids, all dressed in red save for Rachel who looked elegant in a baby pinkish dress.
The bridesmaids, later on, changed to maroon dresses while receiving Natalie at the podium.
DP Ruto was accompanied by former Cabinet Minister and one time Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MP, Henry Kosgey, his son, Alex Kosgey and Kapseret MP, Oscar Sudi.
Other 170 MPs allied to Ruto were also in attendance. Wiper leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, was also spotted dancing to Twisti at the reception.
Kalonzo and Ruto are in talks over a possible coalition deal ahead of the August 9, 2022, General Election.
"If you hear them (Ruto and team) looking for me, tell them I am available because Kenyans must consult. If they want to reach out to me, they are most welcome," he stated in a past interview.
The DP was dressed in a black suit, a white shirt and a white cowboy hat.
Langat’s daughter was wedded in a colourful Kalenjin traditional ceremony, Koito, at their Karen home, Nairobi.
The theme of the wedding was a blend of white and maroon.
Langat is a close ally of DP Ruto and is believed to be one of his financiers over the years. In July 2021, he accompanied Ruto to Uganda where the two met the country’s President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The billionaire owns several properties and businesses in the country among them the Nyali Super Centre, Sunrise Resort, prime real estate projects at the Coast, Koisagat Tea Estate in Nandi County, Kapchechet Tea Factory in Kericho County, and Selenkei Investments Ltd, an electricity generating company that majors in green energy production.
He was also listed as a partner in the Pearl River Industrial Park in Eldoret believed to be worth Ksh200 billion.
