Deputy President William Ruto's digital communications strategist Dennis Itumbi has spoken for the first time after being discharged from hospital on Saturday, January 1.

Speaking to the media, Itumbi vowed to expose his abductors at a later date after he fully recovers. Further, the DP's ally noted that he was responding well to treatment but would frequent the hospital for normal checkups.

"The doctors have said I am out of danger, I will only go back to the hospital for normal clinics."

Detailing the treacherous ordeal in the hands of his captors, Itumbi noted that he had suffered triple fractures on the left and a fracture on the right leg.

He also sustained multiple dislocations on his upper limbs.

"Because of the handcuffs, I also sustained wrist dislocation. I could not see after they poked my eyes, damaging my corneas," he narrated.

Itumbi was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after experiencing difficulty in breathing.

“In the process of treatment, I developed trauma-pneumonia due to the injuries, and that is why I was moved to the ICU,” he stated.

Itumbi insisted that he had forgiven his captors but vowed to name them at a later date.

The news of Itumbi being discharged was announced by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Director of Communications, Wanjohi Githae.

Further, Itumbi's brother, David Itumbi also shared a video showing the strategist walking in pain with the support of the nurses at the hospital.

"We thank God my brother Dennis Itumbi has made tremendous improvement. 24 hours after release from ICU he was walking on his two feet though he needed support. It's now path to recovery. God willing he should be out of hospital soonest," David stated.

DP Ruto had also visited Itumbi, accusing government operatives for the incident.

"They have now turned violent and fatalistic after all the negative narratives, threats and blackmail against us failed. Like Dennis, we all must be strong knowing that in a few months we will defeat impunity, entitlement, arrogance and abhor and free our nation for good. Pole Dennis. Get well soon. God is the Almighty,” Ruto ranted.
