The Nairobi Expressway Head Office has announced that interviews for prospective toll attendant job applicants has kicked off.

In a statement dated January 4, the managers of the Ksh65 billion toll highway announced that all applicants will be notified through an SMS message.

In September 2021, The Nairobi Expressway Head Office had put out an advert seeking to hire 36 toll station attendants and two accounts clerks for the service.

The interviews kicked off on January 4 and all individuals who applied have been asked to activate their SMS services by dialling *456*9*5#.

The head office further explained that successful applicants will be notified on interview dates and location via the SMS service.

"Interviews are currently ongoing to fill Toll Attendants’ positions upon the completion of Nairobi Expressway project.

"Applicants who expressed interest by sending their resumes are strongly advised to turn on notifications for all SMS alerts by dialing *456*9*5# as communication to the successful candidates is being done via an automated text platform," read the statement in part.

The notice further cautioned the applicants to ensure that they adhere to Covid-19 restrictions as directed by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

"Additionally, all candidates MUST strictly adhere to the information on the text regarding the reporting date and time for the interview as well as observing the WHO recommended Covid-19 management protocol," added the statement.

The expressway is under construction through a partnership between Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) and China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC).

The toll station attendants will be trained to fill in the management executive positions after the interview process is completed.

Their tasks will include the collection of payments from customers and issue receipts, refunds, balances and tickets to motorists.

Other roles will be offering customer service, as well as data entry and maintenance of accurate records for cash payments.

For accounts clerks, the successful applicants will be tasked with Finance analysis and reporting as well as bookkeeping.

Other roles will include ensuring effective administration of petty cash and preparation of the daily detailed cash analysis.

President Uhuru Kenyatta confirmed that the expressway is set for completion in March 2022.
