Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria on Friday, January 7, in a rather surprising move, unveiled Women Representatives Sabina Chege (Murang'a), Purity Ngirici (Kirinyaga) and former Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau as members of his Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) party.
The Legislator, who is undergoing treatment in Dubai, sparked mixed reactions from netizens after putting up posters of the aforementioned politicians on his social media pages.
The posters, which had CCK's logo and colors, had many guessing whether the politicians had joined the party which was registered by Kuria following his ouster from the People's Empowerment Party (PEP) in July 2021.
Ngirici, who was elected on a Jubilee Party ticket, ditched the party and had been traversing the country with Deputy President William Ruto, until December last year when she quit United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Addressing her supporters in Mwea Sub County on Thursday, December 30, Ngirici revealed that she ditched UDA after being summoned at the headquarters where she was asked to shelve her ambition for the incumbent Governor Anne Waiguru.
“I was summoned in Nairobi and told to go run as MP in Mwea Constituency and leave the seat for her, but I have said no,” she revealed.
She told her supporters that the UDA party ticket had been sold to the highest bidder and revealed that she would contest as an independent candidate.
“If you go to cast your ballot, don’t worry about the party, look for my name and photo, that will be my party.
“If you hear a figure like Ksh200 million being carted to the headquarters and the party owners are telling you to step down, you know the ticket is gone,” she added.
On the other had, Murang'a Woman Representative Sabina Chege on January 6, threatened to ditch the Jubilee Party in thirty days if the political outfit was not relaunched.
Addressing the media on Thursday, the lawmaker revealed that she was getting tired of waiting for the party to rebrand.
Further, she explained that many politicians, including herself, had delayed printing materials that they will use to campaign because the party had taken too long to relaunch.
"In February, I will make an announcement and reveal the party which I will use to contest and all other things. This time around, we will choose an individual with a good track record.
"I have been involved in national politics but this time around, you will see me with my people in the village and they will help me know what direction I will go," Chege stated.
But in a quick rejoinder to Kuria's unveiling, Chege told Kenyans.co.ke that she had not yet ditched the Jubilee Party.
"Not yet...," she responded in a brief text.
By the time of going to press, Ngirici and Kuria had not responded to our queries on the same.
