A youth who has been on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) most wanted list surrendered to law enforcement officers on Thursday, January 13.
The youth identified as Robert Gathogo Ngunjiri alias Abdurahman Hija Mnubi aged 27 years surrendered in Nyeri claiming he is innocent.
Mnubi was among the eight people being sought by the DCI over what the police termed as involvement in serious crimes.
He hails from Nyeri County and is said to have been part of a criminal gang that was terrorising residents before he escaped to Somalia where he allegedly joined the Al Shabaab militia group in 2016.
According to police reports, Mnubi was reportedly dispatched back to Kenya to carry out terror attacks and this is what entered him into the DCI's red list.
Other most wanted persons in the list include Mohamed Ali Hussein, Ahmed Ali Mohamed, Erick Njoroge Wachira aka Mohamed Njoroge aka Moha.
Abdikadir Mohamed Abdikadir aka Ikrima, Peter Guchungu Njoroge aka Mustafa, Mohamud Abdi Aden alias Mohamed Yare alias Ibrahim alias Mohamed Hassan alias Mohamud Abdirahman and Kassim Musa Mwarusi aka Abu Miki.
The DCI had further warned the public that the reported suspects on the lose were armed and dangerous thus pleading with the public to assist in nabbing them.
"He was involved in the planning of the Dusit attack in 2019 and 2010 Kampala bombing attacks. At one time he wa a resident of the South C area in Nairobi County and Kongowea/Nyali in Mombasa County," DCI described one of the suspects.
Abu Miki, one of the suspects, was reported to have been involved in the radicalisation of youth in his home area.
"He is also involved in radicalization of unsuspecting youth in the said areas and has associations with several criminal gangs in the areas," the DCI stated.
The suspect is currently locked in the police cell waiting to be picked by a special team from the DCI office.
