5 Rare Gifts Ruto Has Received on Campaign Trail

Over the past few years, Deputy President, William Ruto, has been traversing the country in search of votes as he seeks to become the country's fifth president. 

While on the campaign trail, Ruto often dishes out goodies to his supporters. However, it has also become a common occurrence to see his supporters giving him presents to show their admiration, others just use the gifts to secure an audience with him.

Kenyans.co.ke takes a look at some of the unique gifts that Ruto has received in the past.  

Parcel of land

On November 4, 2021, Bungoma musician Zakazi Daudi gifted Ruto a parcel of land. He reportedly offered the parcel to the DP with the aim of putting up regional offices of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

"I have donated my piece to DP Ruto so that he can construct UDA offices and headquarters. I hope that when he visits Webuye, he will lay the foundation stone for the construction of the party's headquarters," stated Zakari.

Car 

In October 2021, Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngujiri gave Ruto a white  Toyota Land Cruiser-79-Series to boost his campaign and operations. After the car was presented to him, the DP drove it and stated that he liked it.

Cassava

In July 2020, Kamunyu Wambugu and his wife, Isabella Wanjiru, visited Ruto at his Karen home with some cassava that they had harvested. Ruto thanked them for their generosity in sharing your cassava and yam harvest with his family, adding that It was such a humbling gesture.

He has also previously been given food items like chicken, bananas, maize, cabbages, fish, and goats.

Shoes

On January 14, 2020, while the DP was touring Kiambu and Nairobi counties, he was given a pair of shoes by a man who had gone to extreme lengths to ensure that Ruto noticed him.

Bible 

On March 13, 2021, while on a meet-the-people tour at Mosoriot, Nandi County when a man surged from the crowd to give Ruto a Holy Bible. Having seen the man, DP Ruto, stretched his arm and took the Bible amid cheers from the crowd.

Ruto expressed his gratitude and declared that he would use the Bible to fight conmen and his political enemies.
