Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi on Monday night, January 17, castigated the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss, George Kinoti, over an alleged raid at businessman Jimi Wanjigi's offices.

In a video shared by the MP on his social media pages, Sudi claimed that the DCI has a personal vendetta against Wanjigi after the businessman won a case that saw Kinoti convicted.

The DCI boss was given a four-month prison sentence at Kamiti Maximum Prison after he was found guilty of contempt of court. Wanjigi had sued Kinoti for illegally retaining his firearms after the police raided the businessman's home in 2017.

"Kinoti is going after Jimi Wanigi who fought for his rights and saw Kinoti jailed. The DCI boss has now decided to send all those police officers after Wanjigi. No one owns democracy in Kenya," Sudi stated.

Sudi further alleged that the raid was triggered by Wanjigi's comments at Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka's home, where he described ODM leader Raila Odinga as a dictator.

At the event held at Musyoka's home, Wanjigi asked the Kamba community to support Kalonzo if he vies for the presidency or forms a coalition with other like-minded leaders.

Sudi opined that Wanjigi's comments triggered unidentified anti-democratic individuals and accused the DCI of being used to frustrate certain people in the country.

Reports intimated that Wanjigi was still holed up in his Kwacha House offices, hours after the alleged raid.

By the time of publishing, Kenyans.co.ke had learnt that the officers too were still inside Wanjigi's offices. The businessman's supporters also camped at the gate chanting anti-DCI slogans.

It was further reported that Wanjigi, who aspires to contest in the 2022 presidential race, plans to address the media before he is whisked away by the police.

Wanjigi has been at the centre of a land tussle over a piece of land worth over Ksh1.2 billion in Westlands, Nairobi.

The property has been under investigation since 2018 after it emerged that it had three separate title deeds.

DCI recommended charges against Wanjigi and his wife Irene Nzisa for allegedly obtaining money by false pretence and conspiracy to defraud.

Sleuths from the Land Fraud Unit of the DCI noted that the accused pretended that they were in a position to sell the 0.3314-hectare piece of land on General Mathenge Road in Westlands.
