Keroche Breweries billionaire founder Tabitha Karanja has officially joined the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Karanja, who is seeking to succeed Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, made an appearance in Deputy President William Ruto's UDA rally in Nakuru County on Wednesday, January 26.

The DP used the event to welcome her - describing the Senatorial aspirant as a reputable industrialist and capable leader.

Speaking to the crowd, Karanja revealed that she made the switch after consultations with her people and that she was interested in making the country a conducive environment for business.

"I have listened to you and you have told me that the only vehicle I can use to represent you is UDA. I agree with you.

"To the DP, I have listened to you and I have practised that for the last twenty five years and I am a practical example of bottom up. I ask you when you make the Cabinet, remember the problem businesses have gone through. You should know that we want a conducive environment for businesses. High taxation has brought down companies," she stated.

She further noted that she had the citizen's interest at heart explaining that she was interested in increasing employment opportunity's as espoused by the Hustler Movement.

"I want to represent you to ensure that all the laws from above are not meant to discriminate us. Are we together? Our job is to look for work so we can have some money in the pocket.

"I was born here. I come from Kenton Kijabe and attended Kiambogo Primary School and joined Bahati Girls High School. I am the one who set up the biggest company in Kiambu County," she added.

Karanja announced her political run in October 2021 noting that she had been urged by her close friends and felt it was time to join politics.

At the time, she noted that she did not join politics for a long time because she was busy serving as CEO of Keroche Breweries but she has since stepped down from her role.

Currently, the senatorial seat is held by Susan Kihika who has declared interest in unseating Lee Kinyanjui as Nakuru governor.
