The family of former Kameme FM Presenter who died in the US in December 2021 is now pleading with the government to intervene and help with burial plans.

Jedidah Wambui Weru, known to her friends as Mima, is reported to have died in the US but the cause of her death still remains a mystery.

According to her family, they were notified of her death by a third party, with her estranged husband withholding any crucial information that would be useful to unravel the mystery of her demise.

The family now says that the withholding of the information by the alleged husband has caused them more grief.

Speaking to a local media station on Wednesday, January 26, the family pleaded with the government - through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - to assist in flying the body into the country in order for them to accord her a proper send off.

The family noted that the body of their kin was still hidden in the US, disputing earlier reports that it was cremated after her death.

Wambui's family also moved to court on Wednesday, January 26, seeking orders to block the husband from holding a burial ceremony without involving them.

They detailed that there is a well-oiled scheme aimed at blocking the family from seeking justice and allowing them to bury her in Kenya.

They had earlier reached out to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the matter with the hoping of getting important information on what led to her death.

According to Wambui's family, the former vernacular radio presenter left the country for US in 2018 in search of greener pastures. She successfully got a job and started working as a community health administrative assistant.

Her family noted that Wambui went silent after they questioned her about the state of her marriage.

"I did not feel it was right to do it and I still do not feel it is right. After that she kept quiet for some time, no communication came from her," her daughter stated.

Wambui worked for Kameme FM as a presenter between 2000 and 2012. She joined Interconsumer Products Limited in 2015 and later proceeded to Weru TV where she worked from 2016 to 2017.
