Amani National Congress (ANC) Secretary-General Simon Gikuru has claimed that his party leader Musalia Mudavadi has enough money to fund some Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) aspirants.
Gikuru made the remarks at a rally in Kirinyaga, in the presence of Deputy President William Ruto of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and his Kenya Kwanza affiliates, Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula of Ford Kenya.
He was hitting back at ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, refuting allegations that ANC had received Ksh100 Million from the orange party.
“We have enough money as a party. Musalia Mudavadi actually has enough money to fund some ODM aspirants,” Gikuru stated.ANC Leader Musalia Mudavadi welcomes the appointment of CEO Simon Gikuru in September 2021ANC Party
Sifuna, speaking to the media, had broken down how much affiliate parties received from NASA coalition after its collapse.
“Wiper received Sh70.4 Million, ANC 43.8 Million, and CCM 3 Million. However, Ford Kenya could not get theirs because of the leadership wrangles within the party at the time,” Sifuna said.
The remarks by Sifuna however appeared to have rubbed the ANC spokesperson the wrong way who curiously remained coy on how much ANC received.
“Edwin Sifuna is misleading the media that ANC has received 100 Million from NASA’s (National Super Alliance) share of the political parties fund. We have not received such funds,” he stated at the rally.
Gikuru, who has been ANC Secretary General since September 2021, also drummed up support for their new political partnership with Ruto and Wetangula after their fallout with OKA co-principles Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper and Gideon Moi of KANU.
The Kenya Kwanza rally in Kirinyaga was the third joint rally by the three leaders after they toured parts of Western Kenya on Friday and in Rift Valley immediately after the 'earthquake' announcement on January 23 at the Bomas of Kenya.
Ruto and Mudavadi hit the campaign trail started off in Nakuru on Wednesday, January 26, three days after the collapse of OKA, after it emerged that the duo had already sealed a deal, that was unknown to Kalonzo and Moi.
