The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced nomination fees for candidates interested in clinching different elective seats in the August 9 General Elections via the party.
A statement signed by the party's National Elections Board (NEB) Antony Mwaura revealed that men who want to take a stab at the presidency using a UDA ticket will pay a nomination fee of Ksh 1 million, while women and youth interested in the same seat will pay Ksh 500,000.
Male gubernatorial aspirants will pay Ksh500,000. On the other hand, women and youth who are interested in becoming county bosses via the UDA ticket will pay Ksh 250,000.
Male Senatorial aspirants are required to part with Ksh 250,000 whereas women and youth are required to pay Ksh 125,000.
Woman Representative candidates will pay Ksh 250,000 while youthful candidates seeking the same seat have been asked to pay Ksh 250,000.
Male Parliamentary aspirants will pay Ksh 250,000 while youth and women who are interested in becoming Members of Parliament (MPs) via UDA have been asked to pay Ksh 125,000.
Male Member of County Assembly (MCA) aspirants will pay Ksh 50,000 while women and youth seeking the same seat will pay Ksh 25,000.
Additionally, People Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) who are seeking elective seats on UDA will be not be required to pay the nomination fees.
The party noted that interested candidates should submit their applications for nomination through the UDA website on or before February 28.
On Saturday, January 29, Mwaura revealed that UDA had cut nomination fees for women and youth seeking elective seats by 50 per cent.
He noted that the party set the nomination fees while bearing in mind special interest groups such as People Living With Disabilities (PLWDs), women and youth.
“The board has waived nomination fees for all persons living with disabilities vying for positions within the party and approved a 50 per cent waiver for women and youth aspirants,” he divulged.
