14:03pm: Kenya Ambassador to Namibia, Benjamin Langat has quit his role to contest for Ainamoi parliamentary seat during the August 2022 polls.

Wednesday, February 16

12:22 pm: Former KEMSA Chairman Kembi Gitura announced his resignation from his role as the Chairperson for the Communications Authority of Kenya to launch his bid to occupy the Murang'a Senatorial seat.

Thursday, February 10

12:30 pm: Foreign Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Ababu Namwamba resigned from his position a day after he was appointed as the Head of International Relations in Deputy President William Ruto's Presidential Campaign team. 

11:51 am: National Drought Management Authority acting CEO Sunya Orre resigned from his role to vie for Marsabit Gubernatorial seat.

"I will be running for Marsabit Gubernatorial seat. For the last eight years, we have established systems for drought management,"  he stated.

09:30 am: Chuka University Vice Chancellor Professor Erastus Njoka resigns to join politics. He is set to contest for the Tharaka Nithi County Gubernatorial seat.

Wednesday, February 9

19:30 pm: Former Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) CEO Halakhe Waqo resigns as Chairman of the Universities Fund Board to contest the Isiolo Governor's seat

16:40 pm: Interior Chief Administrative Secretary Hussein Dado resigns to vie for Tana River Gubernatorial seat in August General Election.

16:31 pm: Ministry of Sports CAS Zack Kinuthia confirmed his resignation for the post to run for the Kigumo Parliamentary seat on an Azimio la Umoja ticket.

15:12 pm: National Museums of Kenya Board of Directors Chairman David Musila steps down, set for the Kitui Gubernatorial seat contest

15:02 pm: Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) Vice Chair Dalmas Otieno quits to launch his bid for Migori Governor's seat.

13:38 pm: The Principal Secretary, State Department for Crop Development &Agricultural Research Prof Hamadi Boga stepped down from his role to run for the Kwale Gubernatorial seat.

12:51 pm: Machakos County Minister for Health and Emergency Services Dr Ancent Kituku left the position to launch campaigns for the Kangundo parliamentary seat.

                 Lazarus Kivuva, the Minister for Trade, Industrialization and Innovation in Machakos County is leaving to contest for the MP seat in Yatta Constituency.

                 Jackson Muthini, the Chief Officer, Water, Irrigation, Environment and Natural Resources in Machakos county also left for a stab at the Masinga Parliamentary seat.

12:00 pm: President Uhuru’s Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita resigns to focus on the Machakos Gubernatorial race after consultation with Kamba politicians. He is yet to declare his party of choice but has indicated he would side with the Azimio Coalition. 

“We will stand with Raila Odinga and hold his hand until he gets to State House," he stated.

11:38 am: Director of Youth and Development in the Office of the President Walter Mong'are, popularly known as Nyambane, has resigned to run for an undisclosed political seat.

11:33 am: Water CS Sicily Kariuki tendered in her resignation and is set to run for the Gubernatorial position in Nyandarua County.

10:42 am: Kenyan High Commissioner to Uganda Kiema Kilonzo, quits after three years of service to contest for the Kitui Gubernatorial seat.

10:34 am: Agriculture and Food Authority(AFA) boss Kello Harsama quit from his post to vie for the Marsabit Gubernatorial seat.

“I wish to thank the Government of Kenya for offering me an opportunity to serve as a distinguished civil servant for twenty-seven years,” he stated in his letter to Agriculture CS Peter Munya.

10:18 am: Transport CAS Chris Obure resigns and is set to contest for the Kisii Gubernatorial seat in the August 9 polls.

7:14 am: Felix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang'o, quit his Kiss FM morning show to contest for the Lang'ata Parliamentary seat under the the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

"From Day 1, you (Kamene Goro) have always believed in me and it has always been an amazing journey. The journey that I am going for is not as easy as anyone would think. It is tough, tiresome, expensive and needs full focus," he bid his fans and co-workers goodbye.

Tuesday, February 8

20:30 pm: Lawrence Karanja, the Chief Administrative Secretary of the Ministry of Industrialization, Trade and Enterprise Development, quit his position to contest for the Senator seat in Nakuru County.

"Lawrence was a kind and diligent colleague who guided me in my formative days at the Ministry of Industrialisation. Wishing him well," stated Trade and Enterprise Development CAS David Osiany.

17:00 pm: Ministry of East African Community and Regional Development Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohamed resigns to run for the Mandera Gubernatorial Seat.

15:58 pm: Machakos County longest-serving Chief of Staff Mwengi Mutuse resigns. Joins the Kibwezi West Parliamentary Seat contest. He was appointed to the position in 2013.

15:31 pm: Chief Administrative Secretary Hassan Noor Hassan has tendered his resignation as the CAS Ministry of Education to contest in the Mandera Gubernatorial seat.

13:40 pmKen Obura quits as East African Community CAS and is set to contest for Kisumu Governor's seat in the August General Election.

13:10pm: Education CAS Madam Mumina Bonaya resigns to focus on campaigns for Isiolo Woman Rep seat in August polls.

12:46 pm: Wildlife Principal Secretary Fred Segor quits his PS position to focus on campaigns. He is set to vie for the Baringo Gubernatorial seat on a UDA ticket. 

12:45 pm: Petroleum CAS John Mosonik resigned to contest the Bomet gubernatorial seat. He will be battling incumbent Hilary Barchok in the UDA nominations. 

12:30 pm: Chief Administrative Secretaries Patrick ole Ntutu (from the Labour Ministry) and Gideon Mung'aro (from Devolution) resign to vie for Narok and Kilifi gubernatorial seats respectively. Ntutu will be seeking the seat on a UDA ticket while Mung'aro is yet to declare his seat although he is affiliated with the Azimio Coalition. 

12:00 pm: Devolution Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter and his Petroleum counterpart John Munyes resigned from President Uhuru Kenyatta's Cabinet.

Keter joined the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) on whose ticket he is set to contest for the Kericho Gubernatorial seat while Munyes is seeking to be the Governor of Turkana. He is yet to reveal his party of choice but is affiliated with the Azimio Coalition. 

8:00 am: KBC Zinga Show host Bonnie Musambi has resigned and is set to vie for Kitui Central Parliamentary seat in Kitui County.


Monday, February 7

Transport CAS Wavinya Ndeti quit her government post and launched her bid to succeed Alfred Mutua as the Machakos Governor. She will be contesting on a Wiper party ticket. 


Thursday, February 3

Joseph Boinnet resigned from his Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife to run for the Elgeyo-Marakwet Gubernatorial seat on a UDA ticket. 

Wednesday, February 2

President Uhuru Kenyatta's aide Machel Waikenda resigned from his role as the director of political affairs and intergovernmental affairs to contest for the Kiambu senatorial seat.

Wednesday, January 12

Rift Valley Regional Commissioner, George Natembeya resigned to focus on his Trans Nzoia gubernatorial bid on the Democratic Alliance Party (DAP) ticket.
