Inside Ex-KTN Anchor Yussuf Ibrahim's Lucrative Venture

Over the years, Yussuf Ibrahim became a familiar figure to most Kenyans having worked as a news anchor at KTN, K24, and Citizen TV.

In 2019, Ibrahim announced his departure from KTN having joined the media organisation in April 2017. At the time, he stated that he was looking for other opportunities that would help him to grow his career in the communication field.

At KTN, he hosted the Big story and Bottom line Africa, a show that featured various issues affecting the African continent.

"I want to bid farewell to all KTN Kenya viewers. Today marks my last day with KTN. It's been an amazing journey.

"I now look forward to a new position that brings forth new challenges and adds more diverse experience to my career. Thank you all for the support," Ibrahim stated then.

True to his world, he founded the Ubra Communications Research and Development, a communication consultancy firm based in Nairobi.

UCRD is a company that offers training to different clients on crisis communication and strategic communication. Additionally, they also create media content.

"We are a Knowledge management and communication Consultancy firm based in Nairobi, Kenya with presence across the Horn. We focus on strategic communications, Crisis communications, content creation as well as executing effective learning events," read a statement by the firms.

Despite the firm being fairly new in the market, Ibrahim has landed lucrative deals with various international organizations. 

On Monday, February 14, the former KTN anchor took to social media to announce that the company was conducting training of officials from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

"Great outing today with the USAID Nawiri team, one day down! Four more days to go InshaAllah.Thank you for trusting UCRD consultant with this exciting but delicate assignment," he stated.

Despite his remarkable career in the newsroom and outside the studio, Ibrahim has invested heavily in his education and holds a bachelor's degree in journalism and media and a master's degree in international studies from the University of Nairobi.

Upon establishing his company, Ibrahim joined other media personalities such as Alex Chamwada and John Allan Namu who have founded their own companies after quitting mainstream media.
