A fake surgeon was subjected to mob justice after doctors who worked with him discovered that he was masquerading as a professional healthcare worker.
The man applied for a job at a local hospital in Khwisero Sub-County, Kakamega County and was jubilant after the head doctor assured him of the job.
He reported to the hospital with his tools of work but he was exposed after the doctor in charge realised that he had challenges in managing patients.
The owner of the hospital also grew suspicious after witnessing the man interact with patients. He called the doctor on duty and asked him to keep a close eye on him.
According to the police, the owner told the incharge that he wanted to ascertain whether the man was indeed a qualified surgeon as he had claimed.
“The owner of the dispensary, being a doctor sensed something was amiss during the job interview and decided to give him a simple test," Police Commander Samuel Kogo stated.
"He summoned the incharge and tasked him to keep watch on the suspect and tasked him to investigate the imposter," he continued.
A confrontation ensued between the doctor on duty and the fake surgeon after the latter learnt that the colleague was not a qualified medic.
He started questioning him on common medical jargon and his understanding of particular illnesses which were commonly being treated at the facility and how to handle patients.
However, the fake surgeon panicked and faltered. The situation turned chaotic after other medics at the hospital caught wind of the developments.
To save his life, the imposter ran away but was persued by his colleagues and area residents.
"It was said that the health facility's owner raised the alarm and residents managed to waylay and arrest the suspect before he could escape," the police explained.
The imposter was thoroughly beaten prior to being saved by the law enforcement officers.
