The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has seemingly grown frustrated with the demands of OKA principal, Kalonzo Musyoka, before joining forces.
However, Raila is hoping that all OKA principals, led by Kalonzo, KANU's Gideon Moi and former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo, will have made up their before the delegates meeting on Saturday, March 12.
“If you feel you are being forced, don't come. Nobody is being forced into Azimio. It’s a coalition of the willing” he stated
While meeting a delegation from Murang'a county on Monday, March 7, the former Prime Minister was very categorical in his expectations at the delegates meeting.
“We are not expecting any guests. What will happen is that there will be forms that willing parties ready to work with Azimio will sign,” he reaffirmed.
According to Odinga, his priority at the moment remains galvanizing parties that subscribe to Azimio ideologies.
"We are not talking about who is going to be the running mate. We are creating a movement. We will discuss those issues when the right time comes," he stated.
A section of leaders from Azimio affiliated parties are pushing Kalonzo to join Azimio and work with Raila towards forming a winning team ahead of August polls.
Kitui governor Charity Ngilu and the DAP-K leader Wafula Wamunyinyi had asked Kalonzo to shelve his revival of the pre election NASA deal, that is threatening the possibility of OKA working with Azimio.
The former Vice President had revealed that the deal guarantees that Raila would back his presidential ambitions in 2022.
It is presumed based on Raila’s popularity that he may be the Azimio presidential candidate hence the frustration by leaders affiliated to Azimio on OKA’s demands which are delaying the process of OKA joining the coalition.
Raila also enjoys the backing of President Uhuru Kenyatta who has already endorsed him as his preferred successor when he exits State House in August.
