Wiper Democratic Movement Leader now claims that he will use Deputy President William Ruto's tactics if Azimio Coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga wins the August 9 General Election.

Speaking during a campaign in Tharaka Nithi County, Kalonzo revealed that he will begin campaigning for his presidential bid as soon as Raila is declared president-elect in the tightly contested race.

He noted that Ruto was alive to the fact that he wanted to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta and set off his campaigns immediately after the Jubilee party leader was sworn into office for his second and last term in power.

"Ruto knew that he wanted to become president so he began campaigning immediately Uhuru was sworn in for his final term - I have learned a lot from him. Once Raila becomes president, I will also begin my campaigns the following day," the former Vice-President stated.

Nonetheless, he declared that he was fully committed to campaigning for the former Prime Minister to ensure he succeeds Uhuru.

Kalonzo admitted that he was once opposed to an Odinga presidency but was fully committed to supporting him during his final stab at the top seat.

"At one point I was routing for Raila's downfall, I was upset just as you were, but we have to come together to heal the country. The last time he said he only had one bullet left, this time he has a plan that will cause a volcanic eruption in Kenya's political scene," he stated.

Kalonzo's remarks have hinted that he may be picked as Raila's running mate in the Azimio la Umoja political front and that the ODM party leader may only serve one term in office.

Earlier, the Wiper party leader dismissed claims of having discussions about him becoming the Deputy President in Azimio after he led his party signed an agreement at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) that saw then join the political movement on  March 12.

The Wiper Party candidate, however, claimed that he was not really sure of the agreement he signed, noting that he and his One Kenya Alliance (OKA)co-principals would retreat and contemplate on the legal grey areas.

His comments elicited an immediate response from Raila's campaign team which stepped in to clarify the matter. Speaking during a press conference, the campaign team's spokesperson Makau Mutua noted that Wiper joined Azimio, as a party, and not as OKA.

"What was signed on Saturday was an agreement to form the Azimio coalition party. Let me say that political parties come to Azimio as individuals, they don't come as alliances or coalitions.

"So, whether it's Wiper, KANU, or ODM, they all signed the agreement as individual political parties," Mutua stated.
