Gatundu South Member of Parliament, Moses Kuria, is now courting Narc Kenya's Martha Karua, promising her a top position should she agree to join Deputy President William Ruto's Kenya Kwanza alliance.

Kuria, in a statement dated Tuesday, March 22, asked Karua - who is a member of the Mount Kenya Unity Forum, which also includes former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary, Mwangi Kiunjuri - to join Ruto's camp ahead of the August 9 General Election.

The outspoken MP went ahead to note that Karua and Ruto would form a formidable team that would eventually win the polls without necessitating a run off.

He, however, noted that should Karua choose a different alliance, they would remain political allies.

"Pick a side and put on your Jersey. I look forward to an imminent Ruto - Karua ticket to save this country from eternal dynastic domination and give hopes to millions of children who went to school bare-footed. If you decide otherwise, you will still remain my sister, my senior and my friend," Kuria wrote.

His sentiments followed hours after Karua noted that the purpose of forming One Kenya Alliance (OKA) had failed after she was sidelined in the signing of the coalition pact with the Azimio La Umoja that is led by Raila Odinga.

According to the Narc Kenya leader, OKA was formed to enable member parties negotiate as one force ahead of the polls.

OKA co-principals, Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Gideon Moi (KANU), and Cyrus Jirongo (UDP), however, went ahead on their own to join Azimio La Umoja.

"One Kenya Alliance (OKA) was our collaborators for the sole purpose of negotiating together. But our colleagues decided to sign an agreement on their own during the Azimio National Delegates Conference. This means the sole purpose of forming OKA failed on that day. But we are still friends," she stated.

"As Narc Kenya, we cannot hold anyone back. I don't want to use the word betrayal because we all had the freedom to opt in or out of OKA. So it is their right."

Without ruling out the possibility of joining other political coalitions, Karua - who is running for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat - maintained that her party is still looking for other partners.

"Martha Karua belongs to Narc Kenya. She is not outside in the rain. She is comfortable in a home called Narc Kenya.

"There is no deadline for people getting coalitions, we can still walk together even with my former OKA team players," she insisted.

Before the OKA fallout, Karua had made clear her position and demands, arguing that she was joining a political faction that was focused on service delivery.
