Uasin Gishu Woman Representative, Gladys Boss Shollei, lashed out at former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta, over her recent remarks where she questioned the upbringing of politicians who insult President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, March 23, Boss accused Mama Ngina of doublespeak, alleging that the Head of State was also wrong to attack those who do not agree with him.

The lawmaker referred to the 2017 General Election campaign whereby the President had called his former foe turned ally, ODM party leader Raila Odinga, all sorts of names.

"She seemed to be defending the President and said that people who talk badly are not raised well. I think she needs to be reminded that President Uhuru Kenyatta recently was calling Raila Odinga all sorts of names, many clips of him being abusive.

"So to try and say that the President is the perfect person and well brought up a child that doesn't say anything negative, we just need to look at the way he behaved at the Jubilee meeting" the Woman Representative stated.

To advance her argument, the vocal legislator alleged that President Kenyatta had attacked his Deputy, William Ruto at the said meeting where he was supposed to share the ideologies and vision of the Jubilee administration.

".. instead of unveiling the jubilee vision and decisions of the party, instead he went on an attacking spree on the DP so he is not above reproach when it comes to this issue,"

"Remember in Sagana, he went and spoke in his mother tongue, for someone who is supposed to be the symbol of unity. You as the President have an obligation to respect the seat that Kenyans honoured you in, it was actually a gossip corner in Sagana," she pointed out.

On her part, Murang'a Woman representative Sabina Chege defended the former First Lady,  stating that she addressed the constant attacks from politicians

"What Mama Ngina was addressing was the abuse and constant attacks whereby some people, who went to almost her doorstep, to talk about the oath and all manner of things."

"There are words that you cannot say in public and even the elders have condemned them. There's a trend that's coming up of people believing that if you say these words,  but it's actually very unfortunate because what are we showing our kids?" she posed.

Mama Ngina, during a recent burial held in Gatundu, Kiambu County, fired salvos at Uhuru's critics, attributing their conduct to poor upbringing.

"Depending on how one is raised up, that is the exact same behaviour they will carry with them. If you were not taught to go insulting people, then you will not do it. I want to tell those who are engaging in insults that we will leave them like that, if at all they were taught insults while growing up, that is up to them,” she noted.
