"All these activities compound the demand for enhanced security services," the NPS press statement read in part.

Justifying the move to increase security in different parts of the country, the police noted that most criminal activities tend to peak during the month of April.

"These high-level activities also unfortunately present opportunities to a few criminal elements to plot disruptive activities that may harm the smooth running of organised events and activities," Police Spokesperson Bruno Shioso stated.

Different police units were deployed to various parts of the country with standing orders to maintain peace and ensure the safety of Kenyans.

Special arrangements were made to secure major urban areas including all critical infrastructure and places of interest.

"The security agencies have also enhanced their surveillance and intelligence capabilities against suspicious individuals and organised gangs," NPS added.

Police in collaboration with the multi-agency team also appealed to the members of the public to report any unusual activities warranting investigation.

"In the spirit of community policing partnership, the National Police Service appeals to members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious," NPS urged.
