Former Sports Cabinet Secretary, Rashid Echesa, has alluded to existence of a plan to punish President Uhuru Kenyatta if his deputy, William Ruto, forms government in August.

Speaking in Busia County during a Kenya Kwanza alliance delegates meeting on Tuesday, March 29, Echesa alleged that under the Uhuru’s tenure, Kenyans have been treated to harsh living conditions and are grappling with the effects of an ailing economy.

He urged Uhuru to seek forgiveness and be remorseful lest he faces the wrath of the Kenya Kwanza should his deputy assume power, further asking him to return all the public money that has been misappropriated during his tenure in office.

“Owing to our belief and trust in God, we promise to forgive you when we form the next government.

“However, if you remain adamant to ways and decline to conform, please be ready to refund the state funds you have looted,” Echesa warned.

He, nonetheless, did not clarify further on the nature of the looting and whether there existed a graft case against the President, neither did he provided any evidence linking the Head of State directly or indirectly to the alleged looting.

Echesa went on to ask the President to seek divine intervention as the former CS would haunt him for life.

“Let him pray that I am not given any role in the Ministry of Interior or ‘Internal Security’.

“I will camp at your doorstep in Gatundu South until you refund Kenyans their money. And let us not be threatened by anyone again,” he warned.

Prior to making the remarks, Echesa claimed that he confronted the President to explain why he sacked him from the Sports Cabinet docket in February 2019.

Uhuru, he argued, did not provide him with a satisfactory answer, hence making him believe that the President had a personal vendetta against him.

“You heard me asking him to shed light on my sacking so that I have a clean slate whenever I am seeking another opportunity. He declined.

“Later on I was apprehended and faced several charges which were eventually thrown out of court,” Echesa noted.

In attendance at the delegates’ caucus meet were former Foreign Affairs CAS, Ababu Namwamba, party leaders Musalia Mudavadi of the Amani National Congress (ANC) and Moses Wetangula (Ford-Kenya).
