Following their first meeting on March 12, Kalonzo shelved his Presidential bid in favour of Raila, saying their coming together was attributed to President Kenyatta's intervention.

"I'm certain that when he will take office, he will not leave his people behind. When the government will be formed , we will hear the likes of Kalonzo, KANU's Gideon Moi, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and the rest," Uhuru stated during the unveiling of the Azimio la Umoja Presidential candidate held earlier this month.

Kalonzo, after signing the agreement caused political storm within the camp after he alleged that the deal was hurried hence they did not understand the finer prints of the merger.

The remarks prompted President Kenyatta to pay Kalonzo a visit at his Karen home alongside KANU party leader, Gideon Moi, The details around the meeting focused on the pact between Azimio La Umoja and the One Kenya Alliance (OKA).

"It was my absolute pleasure to host Uhuru at my Nairobi residence. We are Azimio - One Kenya and we will support the Right Honorable former Prime Minister in the forthcoming August General Election," Kalonzo stated after the meeting.

Further, the Kenya Kwanza alliance is still adamant in its pursuit of the former Vice President to join their coalition, citing that he's a troubled man within the Azimio camp.

Deputy President William Ruto, during a tour in Mwingi, urged the residents to beseech Kalonzo to leave from the Azimio's tight grip and join forces with the hustler nation.

"I'm urging the residents of Mwingi to inform Kalonzo to join forces with us so that we can form the government and forge ahead," Ruto stated.
