Fresh details have emerged on the murder of Faith Mutinda an assistant manager at the Kenya Railways' Internal Audit department which occurred on March 24.
According to the police, Mutinda's husband, Harrison Mutisya is the prime suspect after he fled the crime scene hours after the murder.
Additionally, detectives disclosed that they discovered the murder weapon disposed of in the suspect's home adding they had launched a manhunt for Mutisya.
"We were able to do preliminary investigations where a murder weapon was recovered in the toilet. Unfortunately, the husband was not found and he is on the run making us suspect that he could be involved.
"The investigations are ongoing and we are tracing him and we believe we will be able to get him. We appeal to the members of the public to share his whereabouts," he stated.
According to police reports, Mutisya was arrested on Friday, April 1, at a lodging in Mlolongo, which is within Machakos County after he was found attempting to take his life.
It is reported that the suspect ingested poison before being discovered by an attendant at the lodging.
While speaking to the media, Mutisya's parents expressed their shock over the incident stating that the couple was on talking terms the night before Mutinda's lifeless body was discovered.
Mutisya's father recounted that the two had visited them as was the norm at the end of every month. He added that together with his wife, they discovered the body of the auditor after they went to check on the couple in the morning.
"Those two were in love and it was the best that I have seen. On that day, they came as usual as they do at the end of the month and they were very happy.
'There is no day any of them has ever come to complain to me about their relationship. We are very shocked at what has happened," he stated.
The murder of the auditor happened barely days after Kenya Railways celebrated the career achievement of the 35-year-old on their social media pages during International women's day.
'I have been at KR for two and half years and it is a celebration of women who have gone against all odds to become somebody in life in terms of career and community service," Mutinda stated then.
