Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has revealed that he has the option of joining Kenya Kwanza movement headed by Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking on Citizen TV, Thursday, April 7, Mutua, who is disappointed with the inner workings of the Azimio la Umoja - One Kenya Coalition, noted that the DP had called him as latest as the night of Wednesday, April 6.

He noted that the smaller parties within Azimio movement were being frustrated and had largely been left out of the decision-making table.

"We still have time. There is the option of joining Kenya Kwanza. I saw a missed call this morning from DP Ruto. His people have been calling me for weeks.

"It is not that we are lost for options. What we want is to be treated with respect because we are doing this for Raila Odinga. We will not agree to be tricked," stated Mutua.

The Governor further indicated that if his party, Maendeleo Chap Chap fails to strike a deal with Azimio team, he had several other options including forming a new independent alliance.

"The other four options are that I can decide as Maendeleo Chap Chap get out and continue on its own and we will negotiate as a party after the elections.

"We decided yesterday that we can form our own coalition, Mwanzo Mpya, and it can be the fourth pillar in Azimio or negotiate later," he added.

The threat comes just a day after Mutua and other Azimio partner parties threatened to quit the newly created coalition within 48 hours

In the briefing, Mutua claimed that the parties had been sidelined from key decisions made within the coalition.

He further pointed out that Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka had been opposed to allowing the smaller parties to have representation in the decision-making table maintaining that the coalition should be run by representatives from Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Jubilee Party and One Kenya Alliance.

Mutua also argued the smaller parties, which had been asked to sign a number of agreements, were yet to see the content of the documents.
