Also present during the post-meeting media briefing were Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Narc Kenya party leader,Martha Karua.

Additionally, the National Executive Council was mandated to draft a campaign strategy that will ensure that they clinch a majority of seats in parliament and the county assemblies.

Further, discussions on emerging tension and divisions within the coalition featured at the meeting even as they resolved to form a tribunal to deal with election disputes.

"The council mandated the Executive Committee to recommend suitable candidates to be appointed to the coalition's Elections Board, Elections Appeal board, National Disciplinary committee, and Disputes resolution panel," he stated.

The council meeting comes after cracks emerged among partner parties over the running mate slot.

Allies of Kalonzo have insisted that the Wiper leader be picked as Raila's deputy even as a section of women leaders insisted that Karua was the best candidate for the position.

Additionally, other members of the coalition have expressed their displeasure over inclusivity in the coalition organs. Outgoing Makueni Governor, Kivutha Kibwana, on April 20, accused Kalonzo of pushing him out of the coalition structures.

He stated that working in the coalition had become difficult after the Wiper leader joined Azimio.

'It is proving impossible to work with Kalonzo Musyoka in Azimio in Ukambani. After he joined us, he has wanted especially me out of all Azimio structures. I have no choice but to be at peace with this sad reality. History will ultimately judge all of us. May it be kind," Kivutha wrote in a statement.
