In April 2020, Joyce Wanjiku Ngugi took the oath of office as Deputy Governor of Kiambu County, after Dr James Nyoro replaced Ferdinand Waititu.
After her husband's demise, the late Gatundu South Member of Parliament Joseph Ngugi, Joyce took a stab at the seat but lost to incumbent Moses Kuria. She is currently eyeing the seat in the upcoming August 9 polls.
Aside from politics, Joyce lives a reclusive lifestyle, keeping her private life off the public eye. However, during an interview on KTN's Art of Living show, she gave the audience a sneak peek of her lavish mansion located in the leafy suburbs of Runda, Nairobi county.
Exterior
The mansion itself is the epitome of luxury with state-of-the-art features and imported products. It spots a glass exterior with brown coloured walls.
The house also boasts of an extensive cabro-paved driveway and a well-manicured lawn, with two vehicles on opposite sides. As one heads to the front porch, it incorporates a unique design leading to the door.
Interior
The interior of the house stands out not only due to its sheer size, but the level of opulence on display. From brown leather sofas to artistic designs, the house gives off an exotic vibe to a tee.
Inside the living room, the shelves consist of antiques from places she and her late husband travelled to for holidays and official functions. She pointed out that South Africa was her go-to spot for a vacation.
A portrait of her late husband stands out in the living room, in his memory. The leather seats, curtains and carpet spot a dash of brown colour, which dominates the whole ambience.
Joyce noted that the chandelier is imported from Dubai while the curtains are locally made. One of the curtains hides a VVIP area where important guests are hosted for official meetings.
The dining area consists of an expansive setting where parties and family events are held.
The politician also gave a sneak peek of the family room where she spends quality time with her sons and engage in fun activities.
