The Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) has written to Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu seeking to exit the Azimio La UMoja One Kenya Coalition Party for feeling sidelined.

PAA party leader who is also Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi claims the coalition agreement is opaque and that they were not involved in the ratification of the agreement.

In a notice of denunciation to the RPP, the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) claimed it had not accessed the Azimio agreement and did not comprehend its terms.

“The PAA NEC in a meeting held on 25th April 2022 resolved that the ratification of the agreement signed on 5th April 2022 be and is hereby declined. Despite signing the agreement 20 days ago, no copies have been supplied,” PAA statement states.

The party is reportedly heading to a different politicial faction  following its denial of ever being an Azimio member party.

“PAA has never been and declines to be a member of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party” the statement reads in part.

PAA joins a list of other parties that have threatened to quit Raila Odinga’s presidential campaign vehicle forcing him to do some housekeeping to contain the dissent in Azimio.

Among the parties that had issued threats was the Kenya Mpya caucus bringing together governors Charity Ngilu, Prof Kivutha Kibwana and Dr Alfred Mutua among others.

Dr Mutua's Maendeleo Chap Chap then hinted that joining Kenya Kwanza Alliance was an option for him and that Deputy President William had tried calling him.

Raila Odinga's Azimio ship has also been threatened by the running mate question, with Kalonzo Musyoka's Wiper insisting that they deserve the slot, even as the clock ticks towards the May 16 deadline set by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
