Former Mombasa Senator, Hassan Omar has called out President Uhuru Kenyatta and Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka accusing them of imposing leaders on Mombasa residents.
While addressing Mombasa residents on April 28, the former Wiper Secretary General alleged that two Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition principals were hell-bent on winning the August 9 polls at all costs.
Omar added that the two harboured ulterior motives and were after winning the county's gubernatorial seat for business interests.
Omar cited Wiper fronting former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko as its Mombasa gubernatorial aspirant, arguing that his candidature was an act of disrespect to Mombasa residents.
According to Omar, Kalonzo was not fit to run for office in the county citing his troubled tenure at city hall.
"After all the disrespect, he (Kalonzo) comes and tells us that Sonko is the best candidate for the county. They did not do this because of his character and leadership traits, they did this to ridicule us.
"Sonko is not suited to vie in Nairobi. He was elected because of the support he had from the President and the Mt Kenya community. They impeached him after they discovered that he was not the right leader for them," he ranted.
Omar further asked the residents to reject leaders imposed on them declaring that he would launch campaigns against the Wiper boss in the county.
"I want to assure Kalonzo that we shall reject his candidate and also assure him that we shall work to ensure that he does not get any leadership in this country," he ranted.
"Because of his disrespect, let us make sure that none of us ever votes for him in the event he seeks election. As a running mate to Raila Odinga, let us make sure that he is not voted for," he urged.
The former lawmaker is eying to succeed incumbent Governor Ali Hassan Joho. He will battle for the seat alongside Sonko and Orange Democratic Movement's (ODM) Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir.
