John Lumumba, father of 25-year-old Sheila Lumumba has stated that he would like to come face-to-face with his daughter's killers once they are apprehended by police.
Speaking to BBC reporter, Joice Etutu, Lumumba noted that seeing his daughter's killers face the full force of the law would give his family much needed closure.
He stated that his daughter did not deserve such a gruesome death.
"To be precise I was shocked, I managed to go to her place, found that pool of blood still there, yeah and some few items were missing. I was told by a lady she was working with.
"I would like to see the people that killed my daughter, I would appreciate, just seeing them and making sure that action is taken against them," he stated.
His call for justice was echoed by Sheila's cousin, Brenda Akinyi, who urged the police to expedite the investigations in order to bring the suspects to book.
"As somebody as strong as her, we never imagine something bad can happen to her. She was a strong person, so I'm telling you that, we are still not in acceptance that she's gone," she noted.
During the burial on Saturday, April 30, Sheila's brother also called for justice and condemned the heinous act carried upon his sister.
"They really did lots of harm to her. I just want justice for my sister. The public can stick with us and help us to get justice. We have buried her and she is now gone but we have to move on," he noted.
Sheila's murder in Karatina, Nyeri county, caused an online debate over LGBTQ rights, leading to the trending hashtag #JusticeforSheila with some claiming that she was killed due to her sexuality.
A postmortem carried out on the body this past week revealed that Sheila was killed by a blunt object and had stab wounds on her neck and eyes.
