Kilifi governor and Pamoja Africa Alliance (PAA) party leader, Amason Jeffa Kingi, says Deputy President William Ruto agreed to prioritise the historical land injustices should he be elected as the Head of State in August.

Kingi, addressing the press on Tuesday, May 10, at DP's Karen residence, noted that this informed his decision to join the Kenya Kwanza alliance that is led by Ruto, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula.

The outgoing Kilifi governor further noted that the Deputy President had also agreed to solve the long-standing crisis surrounding the port of Lamu.

Further, Kingi, will not be given any position in Kenya Kwanza but development in Lamu will be prioritised.

"We are not interested in positions, what we want the next government to do is to solve the land issues and other problems that have affected the coastal region since 1963," stated Kingi.

"The deputy president and his allies have agreed to address this issue that has affected the people of Coast for years."

Kingi signed an agreement ratifying PAA's joining of Kenya Kwanza after ditching Raila Odinga's Azimio La Umoja One Kenya over the mysterious agreement establishing it.

In his agreement with Kingi, DP Ruto promised to reverse the relocation of seaport activities from Mombasa to the Naivasha dryland port.

The duo further agreed to put in place reforms that will ensure Lamu Port is economically beneficial to the coastal people and to further set aside funds that will be used in the revival of the coconut industry and the blue economy projects.

Kingi also negotiated for the protection of the local community that relies on fishing from being harassed constantly by the Kenya Coast Guard.

The Kilifi governor accused a section of leaders in Azimio La Umoja of refusing to disclose the details of the agreement establishing the coalition, hence keeping the member parties in the dark.

Kingi lamented that the dealings in Azimio are shrouded in secrecy and mistrust with consultations and decisions being made by a few people and forced on smaller parties.

Notably, Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition Executive Director, Raphael Tuju, accused Kingi of being DP Ruto's mole in Azimio.

Tuju stated that the Azimio coalition had shut down its commitment to Kingi and Machakos Governor, Alfred Mutua, after learning they were secretly engaging with Ruto and providing Kenya Kwanza with internal strategies.

He maintained that they were keen on having a coalition of the willing and that the demands by Kingi and Mutua were merely excuses to cover up their duplicity.
