Sports Cabinet Secretary, Amb Amina Mohamed, has appointed a 12-member Football Federation of Kenya (FKF) Transition Committee chaired by Justice (Rtd.) Aaron Ringera and a 6-member Secretariat led by former KTN news anchor, Lindah Oguttu.
This is after the Football Kenya Federation Caretaker Committee's mandate lapsed on Tuesday, May 10. The transition committee will serve for the next 5 weeks.
The committee will help FKF transition to the next phase of managing the country's football affairs.
The transition committee is mandated to conduct the affairs of the Football Kenya Federation in accordance with the Constitution of the Football Kenya Federation.
The committee is tasked with ensuring that Football Kenya Federation operates within the provisions of the Sports Act, 2013.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 54 (1) of the Sports Act, 2013, the Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture and Heritage appoints the Football Kenya Federation Transition Committee," read the Special Gazette Notice dated Friday, May 13.
The members of the Transition Committee are drawn from the outgoing Caretaker Committee.
The transition Committee includes Aaron Ringera (Chairperson), Maurice Oyugi (Vice-Chairperson), Ali Amour, Bobby Ogolla, Neddy Atieno, Ceasar Handa, Hassan Haji, JJ Masiga (Dr.), Michael Muchemi, Rachael Kamweru, Mwangi Muthee and Anthony Isayi.
Journalist Lindah Oguttu was also named to the transition committee where she will be serving as the Head of the Secretariat. Lorine Nerea will serve as the Secretary alongside Edward Rombo.
Football in the country has been marred with confusion after CS Amina disbanded the federation that was led by Nick Mwendwa.
She took the drastic step after receiving a report on the investigations into the massive fraud reported at the body.
The audit report was presented to her by Sports Registrar, Rose Wasike. In her report, Wasike recommended further investigations be carried out into the financial books of the federation.
Following the recommendations, Amina went ahead to install a caretaker committee to lead the government's efforts to reform the body.
