An employee from the Interior Ministry has demanded an apology from Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti for linking his wife to the Basmati syndicate.

Speaking to the media on Monday, May 30, the employee stated that he was taken aback after waking up in a hospital and his wife was nowhere to be found.

He later discovered that she had been arrested for allegedly spiking his drink with robbery intentions.

The employee took issue with the DCI statement, terming it as reckless, and misleading. He also ordered that the DCI boss should restructure the officers handling the social media platforms.

Narrating the incident, the employee noted that he took his wife out to an entertainment joint despite the fact that he was feeling unwell.

After taking a few bottles, he did not feel well and informed his wife to take him to the hospital.

"I take alcohol. My wife does not take alcohol. I was feeling unwell, but I was determined to take my wife out. But after taking several bottles, I felt weak and I told my wife to drive me to the hospital," he stated.

"When I woke up, I was in the hospital alone and my wife was nowhere to be found," he added.

The government official was later discharged and headed straight to the Murang'a Police Station to get his wife released.

The employee explained the relationship with the lady, noting that they had been married for 18 years and had sired three children. According to Murang'a South Police boss Alexander Shikondi, the employee's wife was released.

“The man told us that the woman in our custody was his wife and not a twilight girl as perceived, he explained that she had taken his belongings for safe custody. We released her and I confirm that there is no police action required," he told the media.

The DCI post had termed the employee's wife as the "daughter of Jezebel who waited for the opportunity to allegedly steal the man's ATM cards, Identity card and mobile phones.

This comes as the DCI had recently lifted the lid on the syndicate of women who stupefied drinks of unsuspecting victims before robbing them of their belongings.
