Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has caused jitters within the Kenya Kwanza Alliance after he was captured complaining about Deputy President William Ruto and his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

The footage recorded at a night rally in his Sabatia backyard, showed Mudavadi complaining that UDA was fielding candidates on his home turf, while he had avoided trampling on other regions controlled by his Kenya Kwanza principals.

The former Deputy Prime Minister told the people in his native Luhya language that Sugoi electorates would, without doubt, pick a member of Parliament and that of the County Assembly affiliated with UDA to represent Ruto during the August 9 General Election.

Mudavadi warned his supporters not to embarrass him by entertaining UDA candidates in his home ground of Vihiga county.

"Let me ask you this since we are in a coalition with Ruto, we are all at the top of the government. But let me ask you, are the people from Sugoi going to elect a Member of Parliament from ANC?" Mudavadi questioned.

Amid cheers from the crowd, Mudavadi urged the people to vote for their leaders drawn from his ANC Party.

"Let us just tell each other the truth. Will they elect someone from UDA? Because as much as we have united here at the top where we are making the government, but an MP for Ruto is going to come from UDA, his home MCA will come from UDA. Then why would you decide to deny me an opportunity to be represented by an ANC lawmaker? Mudavadi posed.

On Wednesday, June 8, Mudavadi was accompanied by Bungoma Senator and Ford Kenya Party leader Moses Wetangula, former Chief Administrative Secretary Ababu Namwamba, and former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale among other leaders in popularising Kenya Kwanza Alliance in the Western region. Mudavadi held rallies in Vihiga and Kakamega counties

Sabatia is the home constituency of Mudavadi and Vihiga, his county who has been tasked to deliver 70 per cent of Western region votes in Ruto's basket.

His sentiments came just days after Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala accused UDA of undermining ANC and Ford Kenya's bid to deliver 70 per cent of Western Kenya votes.

Malala among other leaders demanded the withdrawal of UDA candidate Clement Siloya who had expressed interest to succeed Alfred Agoi as Sabatia MP. Agoi, who belongs to ANC, had expressed interest in Vihiga gubernatorial seat.

Malala asked Ruto to show good faith by withdrawing the UDA candidates and leaving the MP seat exclusively for ANC. They argued that the alliance was meant to promote political friendship and even strengthen their ties.

"We have already given UDA the top two positions. But please, Mheshimiwa Ruto, do not interfere with our bedroom because these seats mean a lot to us.

"Let us respect each other because, after the election, Ruto will stand aside with his numbers and so will Mudavadi. We do not want them to start saying they will not give us our share of the government because we failed to get 70 per cent in Western. We cannot get that 70 per cent if we do not have our own MPs," the Senator stated.

The former Vice President was promised a Chief Cabinet Secretary slot in the Kenya Kwanza government - on condition that he delivered 70 per cent of the votes in Western Kenya.
