Deputy President William Ruto has accused Infotrak polls of cooking up their numbers to favour former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's presidential bid.

Speaking during a tour of North Eastern Counties including Mandera on Wednesday, June 9, the DP argued that the infotrak had manufactured the polls which showed that his popularity was waning.

He further argued that his team, Kenya Kwanza, has maintained its popularity and is sure he will win in the two-horse race without the need for a runoff.

"Because they are stuck, their system is stuck, deep state and their manifesto are also stuck, they have gone to manufacture opinion polls to show them the way.

"I want to tell Kenyans that we have defeated these people in every way. We have beaten them with our plan and manifesto. We shall win in the morning on August 9," he explained.

Infotrak, in a poll, showed that the DP had lost his popularity and was trailing the former Prime Minister by 4 percentage points. Raila maintained his lead at 42 per cent in popularity.

Infotrak Chief Executive Officer, Angela Ambitho, while releasing the poll, noted that Raila's popularity had stagnated while that of Ruto had dipped compared to a poll conducted in early May.

The poll also showed that Raila was leading in a majority of the counties including those in North Eastern where the DP held rallies.

Other places the former Prime Minister was ahead included those in Nyanza, Western, and Nairobi.

Ambitho, in her explanation, noted that Ruto's popularity, which dropped from 42 per cent in May, noted that the deviation was partly attributed to the selection of running mates by the two presidential candidates.

Against a predicted voter turnout of 95 per cent, the pollster predicted that the Azimo flagbearer would garner 9.3 million votes in the August 9 election.

The former Prime Minister would secure more than 25 per cent votes from 37 counties, surpassing the required threshold for a presidential candidate to be declared the winner.

During his tour of Mandera, Ruto urged the residents to turn out and vote in large numbers promising to ensure that they are issued ID cards on time.

"There is no dual citizenship in Kenya. People of Mandera must be accorded Identification cards just like other Kenyans get IDs and passports," he stated.
