Mathira Member of Parliament lost his cool after Azimio La Umoja supporters in Kiambu County invaded his rally with chants and songs.

The Kenya Kwanza Presidential running mate was speaking in Githunguri on Thursday, June 16, 2022, when a section of the crowds started chanting pro-Azimio songs and this rattled the MP.

He was addressing the crowd when Pro-Martha Karua's chants broke out in the crowd. Gachagua cut short a speech by one of the speakers and took the microphone to castigate the rogue crowd.

The Kenya Kwanza presidential running mate lashed out at the crowd and told them to leave the rally if they would not stop chanting pro-Azimio songs.

Gachagua noted that it was disrespectful and unfortunate for people to attend political rallies and yet they did not support the coalition.

"Do you hear me, this is a UDA campaign rally. Go and look for Raila Odinga and Martha Karua and hold your own meeting today," Gachagua stated.

The MP made a stopover at Kiganjo and Gatundu town, where they continued to sell their policies.

"We reiterated that the William Ruto government will put in place a revolving Hustler's Fund so that our young people can access easy loans in order to bridge the unemployment gap and reduce insecurity. We have also wished our outgoing president a happy retirement when we toured his home town," he shared on his social media.

Gachagua has had a tough time controlling crowds during political rallies. On Wednesday, June 15, two Kenya Kwanza rivals clashed at the rally in Kiambu County and the MP had to ask the MC to play music and calm temperatures.

Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi and former Governor William Kabogo clashed during the rally organised by Gachagua.

The fierce confrontation ended with a campaign vehicle affiliated with Kabogo ramming into another car carrying Wamatangi.

The video which was shared widely showed witnesses claiming that Kabogo was in the vehicle that hit Wamatangi's car - but we could not verify the allegations.

During the speeches, Wamatangi and Kabogo exchanged words that nearly turned physical. The former accused the latter of intimidation.
