DP William Ruto Heckled in Vihiga County

Deputy President William Ruto was today heckled by NASA supporters as he tried to campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election in the Western region.

The deputy president, who was accompanied by former Vihiga County Governor Moses Akaranga, was denied a chance to address Majengo residents.

The visit by the DP comes a week after President Kenyatta received a delegation of politicians from the Western region, among them Mr Akaranga.

At the same time, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua faced a rough time after Ukambani residents booed him and blocked his motorcade as he campaigned for President Kenyatta in Machakos.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap leader was shouted down by NASA supporters in Tala town centre.

The campaign in Vihiga county by Mr Ruto comes at a time when the opposition is accusing the Jubilee Party of a rigging plot through buying identity cards from voters in Opposition strongholds. On Tuesday, a section of NASA leaders disclosed that the IDs are being purchased at a cost of at least Sh1,000.

Meanwhile, a politician affiliated to the Jubilee Party was apprehended by residents for allegedly buying IDs in Vihiga County.

Elizabeth Anaya, who is the former South Maragoli MCA, was frog-matched by residents after she was found allegedly buying IDs at Majengo area.
