Interior Principal Secretary, Karanja Kibicho, has come out to defend President Uhuru Kenyatta against claims that he orchestrated Nairobi Senator, Johnson Sakaja's degree woes.

Speaking at an event in Kiambu county on Friday, June 17, Kibicho hit out at Deputy President William Ruto and his allies for attacking the Head of State without any proof that he was involved in the matter.

He denied claims that the President made calls to Uganda to have Sakaja's degree from Team University revoked.

Kibicho dared the leaders to authenticate their academic papers without trivialising the matter in the court of public opinion.

“If you do not have the required academic credentials, why should you blame the President who is completely out of the picture?

“Some of the politicians lack vision, and that is why we have seen others make police uniforms an agenda. If you have been given a microphone, sell your agenda for electorate to buy-in,” stated Kibicho.

The PS further opined that the leaders should focus their attacks on the opponents instead of targeting Uhuru who was innocent in the matter.

Kibicho also warned politicians against sponsoring the youth to disrupt rallies affirming that action will be taken against those found culpable.

"Please let us focus on the people who will be on the ballot. Direct your attacks to your opponents, not President Kenyatta. He is not contesting for any position in the upcoming elections. He will leave office after the polls.

“Some people are thriving on insults and the politics of hate. We are witnessing a trend where intoxicated youth are deployed to disrupt meetings. Reject such retrogressive politics and let us all remain good neighbours and a united nation.”

Kibicho made the statements a day after the DP alleged that powerful government officials made calls to State House, Uganda in a bid to block Senator Sakaja from the August 9 polls.

"Leave Johnson Sakaja alone. Sakaja is learned and his academic credentials are known. Stop twisting issues regarding his degree. The deep state has been making calls everywhere including State House, Uganda.

"They are coming up with a plan to ensure that Sakaja is not on the ballot for the Nairobi gubernatorial race," Ruto claimed.
