UPDATE: JUNE 28, 6:22PM: The mother of slain blogger and social media influencer, Frank Obegi, has been hospitalised.

The mother, Beatrice Nyanchama, fell unconscious during the burial of her son and was rushed to a nearby health facility for medical attention.

According to reports, Nyanchama had bolted from other mourners and started running towards her son's grave when she collapsed on a slopy path at the middle of tea bushes.

The family of slain social media influencer and blogger, Frank Obegi, has termed him as a principally upright man during an emotional sendoff ceremony held in Bogwendo, Nyamira county.

Speaking during the funeral on Tuesday, June 28, a relative only identified as Veronica and whom the family revealed was the only one who lived in Nairobi with him, described him as a quiet individual who led a humble life.

She disclosed that they often interacted from the time he joined Multimedia University, adding that she would occasionally offer him financial support, even in days leading to his passing on.

Veronica defended her nephew's integrity, dismissing claims that he led an affluent lifestyle in the city. According to her, they were broke, and lived within their means.

"What you are hearing is not true. You can see for yourselves, we are poor and struggling in life," she reiterated.

In addition, she dismissed claims that Frank made a living by cheating others out of their money. The blogger's aunt added that he did not deserve to die in the manner that he did - adding that it was the work of the devil.

"Frank was a very good person, he was not sick, he died in a most painful manner. You cannot understand what has not befell you, the devil gets in between and brings them down."

As the poll bearers lowered his casket into the grave, a section of family members and friends attempted to follow him, clinging onto his casket.

In the obituary seen by Kenyans.co.ke, Obegi was born in 1996 and was baptised in the Evangelical Lutheran Church. He attended two schools before joining Cardinal Otunga High School.

The deceased then joined Multimedia University where he pursued a Bachelor's degree in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) but did not graduate. At the bottom of the eulogy was a cryptic Bible verse.

"Romans 3:10, as it is written, there is no one righteous, not even one."

His friends also took to social media to pay their last respect to him. Theo Mwangi described him as a loyal friend and great human being.

"People are afraid to speak about him because of what has been said online, but the Frank most tweeps knew was a very good friend and human being, that is the memory of him that we will preserve. May his soul rest in peace," Mwangi wrote

Obegi was among five people whose bodies were discovered in Kijabe forest. Others include Jubilee MCA aspirant Joseph Njau, Moses Nyachae, Elijah Omeke and Fred Obare.
