President Uhuru Kenyatta's first cousin Captain (Rtd) Kung'u Muigai, claimed that the Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, would turn his back on a section of his supporters if elected in the August 9 poll.

Speaking to Muoroto FM, Muigai stated that his relationship with the former premier, dated back over 60 years ago when Raila's father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga deputised Kenya's first vice president, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.

He pointed out that after lengthy conversations and analysis, he feared that Raila would prioritise the success of his backyard at the expense of those who backed his bid from the Jubilee Party.

This, according to Muigai, would ultimately leave the likes of Uhuru and other supporters out in the cold.

"Just wait and see, the likes of those from our region supporting him, they will try and call him after the election but calls will not go through on the premise of the government is at work," he stated.

Muigai, who is also the patron of the Kikuyu Council of Elders, claimed that Raila's supporters would seize property and wealth from the Mt Kenya region with reckless abandon.

He gave an example of an elder residing in Kibera, whose school had allegedly been taken away by ODM supporters.

"If you know Karanja Road in Kibra, the person who is named after that road has a son who is my friend. He had a complete school that was attacked in 2007 and the school was turned into dwelling units. Now, Raila has been my friend since we were children because his father used to visit Ichaweri and we would play together. Our children are close friends because his kids have slept in my house and mine also visit his place. We have also been jailed in the same cells when fighting for multiparty-ism.

"I have followed up on this matter for 15 years and he always promises to have it resolved in two weeks. When I realised things were never going to change, I asked myself if they can do that and he is yet to take the presidency, what would happen if he does?" he posed.

Kenyans.co.ke could not, however, independently verify the claims.

Muigai further pointed out that he came to the conclusion after years of studying the ODM party leader.

"From the way I see it is, if he ascended to the top seat, his supporters would use all means of transport to take what's ours."

The patron also alluded to the 1969 oath that he personally admitted taking and keeping records of the contents of the oath. He claimed that partakers of the oath were specifically asked never to support the Oginga Odinga family in pursuit of political power.

"I was about 20 years of age and I took it. I actually took the records of the commitments because it was administered in our home in Ichaweri. My uncle (Mzee Jomo Kenyatta) specifically warned us never to support that family. Such a strong oath is forever binding including generations of those who took it."

Further, the patron addressed the Sagana meeting where President Uhuru linked Ruto to the Arror and Kimwarer scandal. He, alongside the elders, wondered why the police had neither arrested nor charged Ruto over the matter.

"Let us speak the truth, at the time we had not seen any flaws with the DP to prompt us to leave. In Sagana, Uhuru alleged that the DP had stolen Ksh3 billion in the Arror and Kimwarer dam scandal. But the elders wanted to know how come Ruto had not been arrested or charged with the claims."

He noted that Uhuru ought to support Ruto as per their 2013 pact, which involved the "Kumi yangu, Kumi yako" agreement.
