The Presidential Debates Secretariat on Thursday, July 21 unveiled KTN News' Eric Latiff as one of the journalists who will moderate the debate between Azimio flag-bearer Raila Odinga and UDA's  William Ruto.

Latiff has an illustrious career in the media industry spanning over 20 years, but just like his co-moderator Yvonne Okwara, his background was in a different field.

The seasoned journalist first trained as a Telecommunications Engineer at the South B-based Kenya Institute of Mass Communication -KIMC in 1998.

He was part of the team that was assembled by Rose and David Kimotho in 2006 when they set out to launch K24 -Kenya's first 24-hour news channel.

"I was the founding Station Manager and was deeply involved in conceptualization of the   program format and technical design. Our modular news concept has been adopted by all stations in the country," reads his profile.

While at Media Max, he also doubled as the production manager and producer at Kameme FM before leaving for Family TV where he served as a TV producer.

Before joining the Standard Media Group as a senior anchor and host, Latiff, with his authoritative voice had amassed years of experience at Capital FM as an anchor and news editor.

When the Mombasa Road-based media house launched Spice FM in 2019, he was named as one of the hosts of the Situation Room - a popular conversational show focusing on political and current affairs.

He has established himself to become one of the most sought-after journalists in the media industry owing to his versatility cutting across TV, radio, print and digital.

Previously, Latiff has interviewed high profile Kenyans and was part of the journalists selected to the panel interviewing Azimio flagbearer Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua on June 28.

All eyes will be on him on Tuesday, July 26, when he will moderate the Presidential debate between Raila and UDA candidate William Ruto.

On the other hand, KTN's Ken Mijungu and NTV's Smriti Vidyarthi will moderate the interview for second tier candidates, Prof George Wajackoyah of Roots Party and Agano's David Mwaure.
